 Latest Assessment Report News

The Assessment Report for the Credit Valley Source Protection Area is being further updated with new Wellhead Protection Areas around wells in Acton and Georgetown in Halton Region

The CTC Source Protection Committee is proposing updates to the Well Head Protection Areas around municipal wells in the Acton and Georgetown areas in the Region of Halton. Some of these areas extend into the Town of Erin in Wellington County. This affects where the CTC Source Protection Plan policies will apply in the Credit Valley Source Protection Area.

New technical studies have been completed as part of Tier 3 water budget work that has improved our knowledge about the source of the water for municipal wells serving Acton and Georgetown. The updated maps showing the new vulnerable areas can be viewed here.

Persons who are directly impacted by being included in the new vulnerable areas are being sent individual letters with maps and notice of the opportunity to comment. Further information will be provided to persons who are no longer in a vulnerable area later this fall. If you want to know if your property is in a vulnerable are you can view the maps here or you can search by address on our interactive map.

After considering any comments received by October 8, 2012, the CTC SPC will submit in late October, 2012, an update to the Assessment Report for the Credit Valley Source Protection Area to the Ministry of the Environment for approval. The update will include the new maps and other associated changes required to the identification of threats. The maps which are included in the Proposed Source Protection Plan are based on the new information.
